Bill Before Congress To Name Post Office After Jimi Hendrix

There is a bill before Congress to designate a post office in Renton, Washington the “James Marshall ‘Jimi’ Hendrix Post Office Building.”

Representative Adam Smith introduced the bill, pointing out that the building is on the same block where Jimi grew up, and only a few blocks from Greenwood Memorial Park, where he’s buried.

Smith says that passing this bill is “one more way we can celebrate the legacy of one of the greatest musicians of our time and the importance of the south Seattle and Renton areas in his enduring legacy.”

The bill has unanimous support from the eight Washington congressional representatives and has moved on from its initial review by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Hendrix died when he choked on his own vomit in London in 1970.
