Four men, three of them being Galesburg residents, were arrested in Macomb on Saturday after a sexual assault was reported to the police.
According to Macomb Police, officers were dispatched to Eisenhower Tower in the 300-block of West Piper Street in Macomb at around 3:56 a.m. for the sexual assault.
There, an 18-year-old female informed officers that she had been sexually assaulted by several males at her residence. She was taken to McDonough District Hospital.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted and the occupants of the vehicle were determined to have been involved in the alleged sexual assault.
Additionally, police say the occupants were also in possession of cocaine. Arrested were 25-year-old Jameel Hughes of South Holland, Illinois, and Galesburg residents 25-year-old Eric D. Robinson and 22-year-old Matthew J. Massey.
All three men are charged with possession of a controlled substance. Massey is facing a battery charge and Robinson allegedly admitted to the sexual assault and was charged with criminal sexual assault.
Later, MPD located Mark J. Massey, Matthew’s twin brother, at an apartment in Eisenhower Towers. He was wanted on a Knox County warrant and transported ot the McDonough County Jail awaiting a $100,000 bond.
Knox County Court records indicate that Mark Massey had a preliminary hearing scheduled for possession of a controlled substance case on January 28. Court records show he was a no-show and Judge Scott Shiplett issued the arrest warrant. It was Massey’s second time skipping a court appearance in that case.
He also has a domestic battery case scheduled for April.
Robinson has two ongoing cases in Knox County. One from 2018 where he faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance. The other from December of 2019 on methamphetamine delivery, possession of meth, and manufacturing/delivery of heroin. Both of those cases are scheduled for a March 4 bench trial.
Previously, Robinson had pleaded guilty to reckless discharge of a firearm in a 2016 shooting that left him and two other people injured.
